Wunderschon on WAW
Filming for an episode of a German travel TV show called Wunderschön has been taking place at various locations along the Wild Atlantic Way, with production supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
The special Ireland episode will air on WDR, a public TV network in Germany, showcasing our outdoor experiences, landscapes and hospitality to millions of viewers in Germany.
The crew filmed at locations including Doolin and an Irish folk music session in McGann’s Pub, the Cliffs of Moher and Hazel Mountain Chocolate in County Clare. In County Galway, they filmed Dunguaire Castle, Micil Distillery, the Connemara ponies at Diamond’s Equine Renvyle, Kylemore Abbey, The Irish Dance Experience with Siobhan Manson (former lead dancer with Riverdance) and a sheepdog demonstration at Killary Sheep Farm. Their programme also included County Mayo and a walk with Irish Wolfhounds along Bertra Beach, Achill Island and Westport House.
Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Germany, said: “It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the landscapes, experiences and characters which make Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way such a great place to visit.”
