Trio Strike Tourism Gold
Three business members of Sustainable Tourism Network have achieved Gold Certification for environmental, social and community responsibility in tourism. Each has shown a deep commitment to embedding sustainability into their day-to-day operations.
They are The Ross Hotel, Killarney Park Hotel in Killarney, and Wicklow-based Brendan Vacations.
Known for its creativity and bold approach to waste reduction and local sourcing, The Ross is leading by example.
“From reducing food waste in the kitchen to supporting local community, our entire team is involved and proud of what we’ve achieved together,” says Ciara Treacy, proprietor, The Ross Hotel.
With extensive energy upgrades, community partnerships, and zero-waste initiatives, The Killarney Park shows what holistic sustainability looks like in practice.
“Sustainability is not just something we do, it is part of who we are. From energy upgrades and zero-waste cocktails to working closely with local producers, our entire team has embraced this journey, and we’re excited to keep building on it,” Marcus Treacy, proprietor, The Killarney Park, said.
Brendan Vacations becomes the first Irish tour operator to earn Gold Certification, setting a new benchmark for responsible travel experiences across Ireland and beyond.
Said Catherine Reilly, managing director:
“At Brendan Vacations we are committed to offering experiences that support the protection and conservation of the local heritage, culture and environment of the places we bring our visitors - and ensuring a viable and economic benefit to local communities and our own team. This certification helps pave a foundation for continued responsible growth.”
