Sustainable Award for Ballygarry

The team at Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa in Tralee won the Sustainability Award at the 2024 Ireland Golf Tour Operator Association (IGTOA) awards in The Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa, Sligo.

In recent years, Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa has carried out a range of sustainable initiatives, reducing their carbon footprint by a substantial 89% between 2017 and 2022. Their efforts include supporting local suppliers, an on-site Integrated Constructive Wetlands that uses reed bed filtration to treat wastewater, and collaborating with local environmental enthusiasts to support biodiversity and conservation efforts throughout the Estate.

Padraig McGillicuddy, proprietor of Ballygarry Estate, said:

“We are honoured to receive this award, which stands as one of our proudest achievements to date. This recognition shows the hard work of our team in creating a responsible community, and we will keep working on it. We believe that it is our duty to protect the beautiful surroundings of County Kerry while providing our guests with an unforgettable experience.”

The IGTOA Sustainability Award highlights Ballygarry Estate's commitment to providing exceptional hospitality while leading the way toward a more sustainable tourism industry.
