Rory’s Golf Tour

Rory is touring Ireland’s top golf courses - but it is “Rugby Rory” rather than the Masters Champion.

Tourism Ireland is teaming up once again with former rugby player Rory Best in its latest campaign to promote Ireland as a leading golf destination.

With The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush only weeks away, the promotion includes a new online video, presented by Rory. It’s part of a wider partnership with The Telegraph (set to reach almost five million people) to boost travel from Great Britain to Ireland this year.

In the video, Rory joins Northern Ireland golfer Olivia Mehaffey to play some of their favourite holes on the world-famous Dunluce Links course at Portrush. Rory also chats with Royal Portrush Head Professional Gary McNeill about the legacy of The Open and its impact on younger players.

The video will be shared on the digital channels of The Telegraph. It features footage of some of our spectacular courses, including Galgorm Castle Golf Club, Holywood Golf Club, Lough Erne Resort, Castlerock Golf Club, Rosapenna, Enniscrone Golf Club and Ballyliffin Golf Club. Rory and Olivia also talk about some of the things to do off the course, including locations like the Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, as well as sampling the food and drink scene in Belfast.

The promotion also includes articles in the print and online versions of The Telegraph, showcasing Ireland as a world-class golfing and leisure destination.

Judith Cassidy, Tourism Ireland’s Acting Head of Great Britain, said: “Rory’s passion for golf and for Ireland shines through in the video and will no doubt inspire viewers to come and visit Ireland in 2025 and beyond.”
