Restaurants Welcome Food Tourism Plan

The Restaurants Association of Ireland has welcomed the new Tourism Strategy and the renewed focus on Food Tourism at national level.

It is welcome to see that, as a priority, a new Culinary Tourism Strategy will be prepared to focus on elevating the quality of Ireland’s culinary offering. This commitment reflects long-standing calls from the Association to place food and hospitality at the centre of Ireland’s tourism identity.

The Association also noted the strategy’s commitment to developing new culinary trails and themed regional experiences.

The Restaurants Association of Ireland recently met with the European Commission’s Tourism Unit in Brussels to present the case for stronger support for food tourism at EU level.

Seán Collender, President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland (pictured), said:

"It is our restaurant staff who create the memorable moments visitors bring home with them. A stronger focus on food tourism is essential to supporting our local communities, showcasing Ireland’s unique food culture and strengthening our position as a world-class destination."
