Redcastle Civil Weddings Grow

Statistics for weddings at Redcastle Hotel & Spa, Donegal, see a notable rise in couples opting for civil ceremonies, with 27% of couples choosing to say “I do” at the hotel.

Couples at the seaside hotel have on average 145 guests at their wedding.

The hotel’s in-house wedding planner, Margaret-Mary McEleney says:

“So far in 2025, 27% of Redcastle Hotel & Spa’s weddings were civil ceremonies, a figure that reflects a post-pandemic shift towards all-in-one venues and more personalised celebrations. This is up from just 18% of weddings having civil ceremonies in 2019, an increase of 9%.

“The majority of couples tying the knot at Redcastle in 2025 hail from Ulster, with 15% from Inishowen, 25% from nearby Derry, and 50% from other parts of the province. This mirrors 2024’s regional trend, confirming Redcastle’s strong local draw.

“Working closely with our brides and grooms on the most important day of their lives is something I truly treasure. Having recently been married myself, I understand exactly how couples are feeling – the excitement, the nerves, the joy. I love making their planning process not only stress-free but genuinely enjoyable.”

Having started at the hotel’s reception desk in 2022, Margaret-Mary’s talent quickly shone through at a Wedding Fayre. She was soon offered her dream role and hasn’t looked back.
