Open Opera in Dublin

Dublin City Council has announced the return of “Opera in the Open”, now in its 26th year, bringing free lunchtime opera performances to the heart of the city this August.

Taking place at the Civic Offices Amphitheatre, Wood Quay, performances will run every Thursday from 1pm to 2pm, starting on 7th August and continuing for four consecutive weeks.

Each show features a lively, abridged version of a classic opera, narrated in English and perfect for newcomers and opera fans alike. Admission is completely free, and no booking is required.

“‘Opera in the Open’ has become one of the annual traditions supported by Dublin City Council,” said Ray Yeates, City Arts Officer. “We invite everyone to experience the joy of opera in this unique and accessible format right in the heart of the city.”
