MTU Wins 40th Management Game
A team from Munster Technological University representing the Trainee Management Development Programme are the winners of the 40th IHI National Business Management Game which was held in the Clayton Hotel, Dublin Airport.
The team members, Chido Mukambi, Ryan Dunleavy, Annie Coulsen, Julius Mc Mahon and Klara Vrylika emerged as the best of six teams from Hospitality and Event Management Programmes across Ireland.
This year’s event was a celebration of 40 unbroken years of IHI hosting the game, and Frank Corr, editor of Hospitality eNews, reminded competitors and organisers that several economic crises and even the Covid pandemic did not interrupt the running of the annual event.
The inaugural Game was held in December 1985 at Jurys Hotel, Ballsbridge with teams from four colleges participating. Dublin College of Catering emerged as winner, ahead of Galway RTC, Shannon College of Hotel Management and Ulster University.
Over the four decades of the Game, DCC/DIT won the title on 13 occasions, Galway has been ten times champions, and Shannon won on six occasions.
This year’s adjudicators were Ivan King, MIHI, Deirdre McDonald, Veronica Timlin, Phillip O'Neill and Anders Justenlund from Russell Partnership Collection.
