Media Influx for Hallowe’en

A media blitz orchestrated by Tourism Ireland is telling the world that Ireland is the "Home of Hallowe’en". The international marketing campaign is also producing positive results with early indications of an overseas visitor surge over the coming weekend.

Some 50 broadcasters with a reach of 100 million will be in this country, representing ITV in Great Britain, and Fox, NBC, ABC, CNN and  CBS in the US.

A documentary - "Les Mystères d'Halloween" - tracing Irish roots is streaming across Europe, while Autumn activities on the island will be beamed to 11 million viewers through video, social and digital. From Madrid to Milan to Sydney, events will showcase the authentic roots of Halloween.

Tourism Ireland estimates that Autumn and Halloween partnerships have generated €50 million in incremental trip bookings to the island of Ireland.

There are Halloween festivities across the island of Ireland running from late September into November, from Derry Halloween to the Púca Festival in Meath, Macnas Halloween Parade in Galway to Bram Stoker Festival in Dublin, and Fire & Shadows Processions in Longford and Limerick.

Alice Mansergh, Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland, said: "As the birthplace of Halloween, the island of Ireland offers our overseas visitors an authentic and original experience at this special time of year."
