Irish Hotel Manager Quits Moscow

Tony Coveney, general  manager of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Moscow, has returned to Ireland following a decision by Marriott International to withdraw from Russia.

He left Moscow following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and was to manage the hotel remotely prior to the withdrawal decision. Coveney had been appointed as general manager of the five-star Moscow hotel in October after running the Ritz-Carlton in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan for almost two-and-a-half years.

Marriott International, which owns the Ritz-Carlton, last week announced it was suspending all operations in Russia. The Ritz-Carlton, located on Tverskaya Street overlooking the Kremlin and Red Square, is widely regarded as Moscow’s most prestigious hotel.
