Ireland on View in Italy
Kilimangiaro, an Italian TV programme which has 1.2 million viewers per episode, has been filming at locations in Ireland, supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
The episode filmed here is set to air later this year on Italian national station Rai 3, showcasing Ireland’s outdoor experiences, landscapes and hospitality. The crew has been filming at Athlone Castle, Clonmacnoise, Lough Boora Discovery Park, Jerpoint Glass Studio, Cushendale Woollen Mills, Ballykeefe Distillery and Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny. They also captured footage of a cruise on the River Shannon with Viking Tours Ireland and a traditional Irish music session in Sean’s Bar in Athlone.
Marcella Ercolini, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Italy, said:
“Around 1.2 million people in Italy are expected to watch the special Ireland episode, inspiring them to visit by shining a spotlight on our landscapes and experiences, as well as the characters who make Ireland such a great place to visit.”
