West of Ireland’. A panel of entrepreneurs and home-grown brands were represented including Harry Hughes, CEO Portwest, Eva Costello, Wild Atlantic Way Team Manager at Failte Ireland and Siobhán Lawless, Founder and CEO of Foods of Athenry.

It was an opportunity for The Galmont Hotel & Spa to host their first corporate event and showcase their new rebrand and explain the story and inspiration behind the brand identity.

Ten Square plans upgrade

Belfast's Ten Square Hotel is preparing for an £18 million expansion that will involve the addition of a new spa and gym to the premises as well as a further 66 bedrooms, bringing the venue's total room count to 140.

The £18 million investment, which is being supported by Ulster Bank, will also allow for the refurbishment of the hotel's restaurant and kitchen in the coming months.

'Best Year' for Park Hotel

The Park Hotel in Kenmare has enjoyed its “best ever year” in 2017, since opening more than 30 years ago, reports the 'Irish Examiner;.

John Brennan said bookings remain “very strong” for this year.

Newly filed accounts show that the hotel’s accumulated profits increased by €471,983 in 2016, to €2.7m. The company’s shareholder funds totalled €3.99m at the end of 2016.

John Brennan now has a 51% share of the hotel with his brother Francis controlling 19%. A new investor, Glen Dimplex chief executive Fergal Naughton, owns the remaining 31%.

Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greening initiative has gone from strength to strength – from its beginning back in 2010, when just the Sydney Opera House and the Sky Tower in Auckland went green, to this year, which looks set to be the biggest Global Greening to date. Around 250 sites are already signed up to take part (and new sites are coming on board every day). From Rome to Rio and from London to Las Vegas, a host of buildings and sites around the world will be turning a shade of green over the coming days.
