Dalata's Dublin RevPAR drops

This year’s earnings at Dalata, Ireland’s largest hotel operator, will be “in line with market expectations…despite tougher than anticipated market conditions in Dublin in the second half of the year.”nccann1219
 The group, whose brands include the Maldron hotel chain, said revenue per available room in Dublin is down 3.2pc for the 11 months to 30 November, compared to a decline of 1.4pc for the first half of the year.
 The Dublin market continued to be impacted by the VAT increase, the additional supply of hotel rooms and a reduction in the number of events in October and November, Dalata said in a trading update.

Five star year at Park

The  Park Hotel in Kenmare, operated by brothers Francis and John Brennan, recorded an 89 per cent increase in pretax profit last year to €331,315, while revenue rose by 6 per cent to a record €4.4 million, latest accounts show.
 brennansThe Park’s income from rooms last year increased from €2.4 million to €2.59 million, while €1.15 million was generated from food, €417,084 from beverages, and just under €225,000 from its spa.
The hotel company Beechside Ltd recorded an operating profit of €601,356, with interest costs of €270,041.
 
 

Adare, Westbury make 'Gold List'

Adare Manor and the Westbury are included in Condé Nast Traveller Gold List of the'all time favourite' hotels in the world for 2020.adarem1219
 The Gold List features over 100 global hotels, ranging from Bastide de Gordes in Provence to Robert DeNiro’s The Greenwich Hotel in New York.
 Unlike its Readers' Choice Awards, which this year saw Adare Manor and Dromoland Castle named as Europe's top two resorts, the Gold List is curated by Condé Nast Traveller’s writers under Editor-in-Chief Melinda Stevens.

Profit drop at Gleneagles

Profits at the hotel group which operates the INEC in Killarney fell 7% to €1.3m last year.
 Accounts filed by Gleneagle Holdings Killarney Ltd show the business increased its operating profits after revenues marginally fell from €27.6m to €27.5m.
However, exceptional costs of €280,083 along with interest payments of €1.1m and investment losses of €1.1m resulted in the Gleneagle group recording a pre-tax loss of €1.2m.
 A note attached to the accounts show that a provision of €319,787 was made for a public liability claim brought against the group.
 Staff numbers fell from 418 to 401 and staff costs increased from €11.6m to €11.7m.
 

Premier Inn for Dublin Docklands

Premier Inn owner Whitbread, and its development partner Red Rock Developments, has secured its fourth hotel location in Dublin city centre.
Located on Gloucester Street in the city’s south docklands, the site will be redeveloped into a 10-storey hotel comprising 108 bedrooms as part of Premier Inn’s ambitions to grow its existing presence as a single trading hotel at Dublin Airport to more than 2,500 rooms in the capital, and beyond.
 Since signalling its intention to expand into the Irish market in 2018, Whitbread has secured 635 Premier Inn rooms in Dublin city centre in four hotels – at South Great George’s Street, Jervis Street, Castleforbes Business Park and now Gloucester Street. The hotels, which are a mixture of freehold and leasehold acquisitions, are planned to open from early 2021 onwards.
