Happy New Year
We are back again following the Christmas Break and wish all our readers a Very Happy New Year.
While many look to 2025 with some apprehension, the New Year was nevertheless welcomed in style in Dublin and other locations throughout the country with hotels and restaurants enjoying brisk trading.
The Failte Ireland NYE Festival in the capital attracted more than 50,000 revellers including a large contingent of overseas visitors.
Developed by Fáilte Ireland in association with the Office of Public Works, New Year’s Festival Dublin featured some 50 acts performing across three days in Dublin venues including Dublin Castle and Meeting House Square, Temple Bar. Part of Fáilte Ireland’s “Winter in Dublin” programme, the New Year’s Festival aims to establish Dublin as a must-visit destination to celebrate New Year’s Eve and is an important economic driver for tourism businesses during the shoulder season.
In partnership with Fingal County Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, an NYF Dublin Fireworks Spectacular took place at Howth Harbour and Dún Laoghaire Harbour on New Year’s Eve.
Orla Carroll, Director of Product Development at Fáilte Ireland, said:
“A flagship event in Fáilte Ireland’s Winter in Dublin programme, festivals like NYF Dublin are an important part of the Irish tourism offering and essential for supporting local businesses and communities, especially during the shoulder season.”
