Grand Opening at Malahide
FBD Hotels and Resorts staged a gala opening of its Grand Hotel Malahide with an official opening by Darragh O’Brien, Minister for Transport and Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment.
In March 2025, the group acquired the hotel for €55 million from the Ryan Family, the owners since 1974.
The Grand became the seventh property in the group’s portfolio, and FBD Hotels & Resorts is investing €5m into upgrading the property over the next three years. Over the past nine months, €2m has been invested across the ground floor hospitality areas.
The next phase of the transformation will include the refurbishment of the 40 bedrooms in the original house and the Tara Suite, which is scheduled to be completed by February 1st and will target the wedding market. Further work will be carried out across the Arena Health & Fitness Club with an investment of €200,000 into its 21-metre swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and gymnasium, nearing conclusion.
