‘Global Greening’ Returns
Tourism Ireland has revived its “Global Greening” programme, following a pause in the annual promotion following the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
Since 2010, Global Greenings have been used to invite everyone around the world to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Tourism Ireland took a pause at the outbreak of war in Ukraine and during the ensuing energy crisis. However, communities still choose to light up landmarks in green.
Tourism Ireland is supporting Global Greenings for St Patrick’s Day once again in 2025 – working with selected landmarks in key tourism markets and providing a toolkit for additional locations that wish to get involved. Sites due to light up in green include Niagara Falls, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Empire State Building, the Sky Tower in Auckland, Trafalgar Square in London and the Sacré-Cœur in Paris.
Tourism Ireland has unveiled its programme of St Patrick’s Week promotions, with this time of year both attracting visitors to the island and teeing up bookings for the season ahead through the heightened profile created.
A new video wishes the world a “Happy St Patrick’s Day” using a haunting cover of “Breathless” by The Corrs, performed by Irish band Lemoncello. It will deliver an estimated 29 million quality opportunities to see what the island of Ireland has to offer as a holiday destination.
