Flogas Wins at Bonkers 2023

The Flogas energy partnership with the Irish Men’s Shed Association (IMSA) scooped the Best Community/Charity Engagement Award at the 2023 Bonkers Awards. Over 30 companies were represented in 17 award categories this year.

As energy partner, Flogas supports all the valuable work the Association does in keeping the Sheds a warm, safe and hospitable place for all its members. It worked closely with them during Covid, which left many “Shedders” feeling isolated, alone and demotivated.

In December 2020,  Flogas held a “Virtual Christmas Party” on Zoom for Shedders nationwide to lift the pre-Christmas spirits with music, chats, spot prizes, and special guests the legendary Irish singer Red Hurley and Flogas brand ambassador, former Olympian and wellness speaker David Gillick.

One of the partnership highlights was the artistic competition “Re-imagine Drogheda”, devised to showcase the creative skills, expertise and energy of IMSA members. “Drogheda” was an Irish equine legend that won the 1898 UK Grand National in terrible conditions and against all the odds.  He was born and reared in the original Knockbrack House in Drogheda, the site of which is now the head office of Flogas Ireland.

The winners were Ardara Men’s Shed in Donegal who, along with other Sheds, attended a presentation ceremony in Millmount Museum, Drogheda in April 2022 where they were presented with a €2,500 cheque by John Rooney, Managing Director of Flogas Ireland. The guest of honour was former Grand National jockey Nina Carberry with comedian Joe Rooney of Father Ted fame as master of ceremonies.

On an ongoing basis, Flogas has given dedicated advice and support to affiliated Shed members on how to review their energy bills, and exclusive discounts.
