Event Management Educators Form Group

In Spring 2020, following the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown throughout Ireland which had devastating impacts on the wider festivals and events sector, several educators in the field of event management initiated a discussion about how higher and further education in Ireland could best respond to the crisis. Resulting from these informal discussions, it was decided to form a new grouping - Event Management Educators Ireland (EMEI).

As academic stakeholders, the EMEI group believes it is paramount to collate and actively network to positively contribute to sustain the event industry post pandemic and beyond. The pandemic health restrictions brought into sharp focus not only the fragility of the festival and events sector, but it's vital role economically, socially and culturally.

The main purpose of EMEI is to develop synergies between educators teaching and researching in the festival and event management studies arena and to develop further collaborative links with the wider festival and events sector, to the mutual benefit of all.

The EMEI was delighted to recently present its EMEI Brochure & Interactive Map. Here, the sector can view details of the event-related programmes on offer across the EMEI network. In addition to this, industry partners with work placement opportunities can use this resource to connect directly with institutes and placement contacts.
