Dublin Prepares To Party

Hotels, restaurants, pubs and other hospitality providers are looking forward to a bumper few weeks in August and early September as the capital hosts an array of major entertainment and sporting events.

The biggest revenue-generator is likely to be the Aer Lingus College Football Classic between Georgia Tech and Florida State University on August 24th, which could attract more than 40,000 overseas visitors from the US, EU and UK. Most accommodation in Dublin has been pre-booked for the weekend, and fans will also stay in towns and resorts up to two hours driving from the venue.

The entertainment programme includes AC/DC at Croke Park on August 17th, Niall Horan at Royal Kilmainham Hospital on August 23rd, Blink-182 at Royal Kilmainham Hospital on August 27th and Coldplay at Croke Park on August 29th to September 2nd.

In addition, Dublin City Council is offering a number of free events at Smithfield including “Ceol Country” on August 31/September 1.

Meanwhile Wexford hosted an estimated 500,000 visitors over the Fleadh weekend and is now planning to host the event again in 2025.

As Dublin gears up for these events, Saba restaurant has announced a  “Touchdown Menu” for football fans and a “Rockstar Menu” for the concert dates.
