Dublin Dazzles for Christmas

Dublin City has become a twinkling wonderland, with dazzling displays and events for all ages along the River Liffey and across the city centre.

Family favourite, Merrion Square Park returns with a giant immersive kaleidoscope, light displays and new interactive experiences from December 1st to 21st. The 5pm to 5.30pm timeslot every evening is designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed environment, including those who identify as neurodiverse. During this slot, no music will be played, and people will have more space to move around.

In the heart of O’Connell Street, eight artists and studios are transforming the GPO building. Creative and dynamic animated light projections bring the "Liberation" theme to life across the façade of this landmark building.

This year’s additions include an interactive motion-sensing wall of LED pixels capturing the movement of daily life in Wolfe Tone Square. From Thursday to Sunday every week until December 21st, the River Liffey Light Boat, a floating lighting installation with 180 beams of light, will travel through the heart of the city from Heuston Station to Dublin Port. "Flux" at Dublin Castle is a unique show that playfully brings light and music together. At Grand Canal Dock, "Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights" in collaboration with professional street dancer Jessie Thompson presents a specially curated performance piece where light and water meet dance on a 40-metre-wide water screen.
