Brady Group Buys Slieve Russell

The liquidators of Irish Bank Resolution Corporation have completed the sale of The Slieve Russell golf resort in Co Cavan to Australian-based Brady Property Group for a sum believed to be in the region of €30m.

A property firm founded by Cavan-born Tony Brady, the Brady Property Group, encompasses construction, developments, real estate and hotels. It owns three hotels and two aparthotels in Melbourne.

From Redhills in Co Cavan, Mr Brady was a bricklayer before he emigrated to Australia in 1973, where he established a construction and property development group. The Brady family still has deep roots in Cavan.

Slieve Russell was developed by Sean Quinn as part of his building materials, industrial, property and insurance conglomerate. It opened for business in 1990, comprises 224 bedrooms and extensive banqueting and leisure facilities, with an 18-hole PGA championship golf course and nine-hole academy course set on 300 acres.

?The hotel’s Cranaghan, Woodford and Erne banqueting suites attract wedding business from a wide catchment area both north and south of the Border. The Slieve Russell has the ability to host national conferences, with a capacity for up to 1,000 delegates and parking for 800 cars.
