Birr Sculpture Show

Birr Castle Demesne is staging a major art event featuring works by Alison Rosse, Jacinta Guinan and Mark Rodes at the Copper Tree Gallery from Monday, August 19th, for eight weeks.

The artists include Alison Rosse, “whose work transports viewers to serene, untouched landscapes with beauty all around inspired by the Slieve Blooms and other landscapes”. Jacinta Guinan (pictured) interprets the West of Ireland lands, and Mark Rode, a master sculptor, is renowned for his expertise in crafting bronze sculptures.

Alison, Countess of Rosse, is an accomplished self-taught artist who, though extensively travelled, is inspired by the landscape of the Irish Midlands around her home in Birr, the Slieve Bloom mountains, as well as the West of Ireland. She also paints interiors, including a series of Irish libraries, and has painted in many of Ireland’s Georgian houses, including her own home, Birr Castle.
