Birr Hotel Celebrates Staff

The County Arms Birr hosted its annual Employee Appreciation Week to recognise the contribution its team makes to the success of the hotel.

Organised by the hotel’s HR team, Employee Appreciation Week included activities to thank staff for their hard work and dedication during an extremely busy and successful summer season.

Activities included morning fitness classes such as Aqua Aerobics, swim classes, a walking tour of Birr Castle Gardens, a 6km run and a Hang Tough Challenge, all facilitated by the team in the Springs Leisure Club.

A large team from the hotel decided to show their appreciation to the town of Birr by volunteering with the local Tidy Towns group. There was fun and games too, with ten brave employees taking part in a charity “Pie-in-the-face” game, to raise money for Birr First Responders Unit, the hotel’s charity of the year for 2024.

Barry Kennedy, General Manager, said:

“It is so important to reward and celebrate our teams’ achievements over the past year. Just two years ago, we had 60 employees, and now we have grown our team to over 150. Our team spend every single day doing their very best to look after our guests, so we believe it is equally important to show them how much they are valued and appreciated.”

Employee Appreciation Week concluded with a Summer BBQ and live band in Kelly’s Bar on the Green, where the Employee of the Year was announced. This year’s recipient was Deirdre Smyth, the hotel’s wedding coordinator. Deirdre won a two-night stay in a four star Co Wexford hotel.
