Belgians Watch Irish ‘Foodies’
Images of the Wild Atlantic Way will be beamed into the homes of over 500,000 people in Belgium, when a special Ireland episode of a popular culinary travel show called Sergio Over De Grens – meaning “Sergio Across Borders” – airs on the TV station VTM. The episode will also air on the streaming service VMT GO. Filming took place here last summer and was supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
The TV show is fronted by Dutch chef Sergio Herman who travels around Europe, exploring different cuisines. In this special Ireland episode, viewers will see Sergio travel along the Wild Atlantic Way in search of new and delicious flavours, local ingredients and inspiring experiences. Filming took place in Clare, Galway and Mayo – at lots of different locations including Killary Fjord, Micil Distillery and Glen Keen Farm. They also filmed Sergio enjoying special culinary experiences at POTA Café, The Artisan Pantry, The Kings Head and with Wild Kitchen. The episode is also due to air in the Netherlands at a later date.
Karen van der Horst, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Northern Europe, said:
“Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity. It’s a wonderful opportunity to highlight our scenery and our cultural and culinary experiences to more than 500,000 viewers across Belgium.”
