ATU Researches AI in Hotels

Atlantic Technological University (ATU)  is carrying out research to analyse the usage of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Service Automation (RAISA) in promoting the sustainability agenda of the hotels. This research is being conducted by Neeta Israni, who has worked in Air India for more than twenty-six years, under supervisor Dr James Hanrahan, Director of the Atlantic Sustainable Tourism Observatory which is part of the UN Tourism, International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories  (INSTO).

The research titled â€˜An Analysis of the Adoption of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Service Automation (RAISA) for Sustainable Operations by the Hotel Sector of Ireland’ aims to assess the current level of adoption of RAISA by the hotel sector in Ireland, as well as analyse the factors that are perceived as inhibitors, such as the high cost of purchase of RAISA or facilitators like enhanced operational efficiency, to the adoption of RAISA by the hoteliers. The research aims to collect data on the support the hoteliers expect from various internal and external stakeholders to help them adopt innovative technologies for sustainable hotel operations.

To gather data for this research, an online survey has been designed which is approved by the research ethics committee of ATU. This short survey can be taken by all permanent employees and managers within the Irish hotel Industry by clicking on this link.

According to Dr James, the findings of this first nationwide baseline study will make valuable contributions to the knowledge of policymakers, technology providers and governmental organisations for evidence-informed planning in relation to RAISA and sustainable operations. Neeta is inviting hotel employees and managers to spare some time to take the survey.
