ATU Reports on Tourism Carbon Footprint
A team at Sustainable Tourism Observatory at Atlantic Technological University (STORY) has launched the first report on the carbon footprint of Irish tourism. The lead authors are Anita Conefrey and Dr James Hanrahan.
Based on the report, the team is organising a webinar entitled "Upskilling Irish tourism for a decarbonised world", funded by the HEA and scheduled for Tuesday 6th of December, 1:00-2.30pm.
It will feature a panel of Irish and international speakers with expertise in tourism, hospitality, aviation and food and will focus on the education and training needed to drive the inevitable changes. STORY hopes to attract a wide audience from industry (practitioners and policy makers) and education (students, lecturers and management).
This is a free event, registration available here.
STORY is also surveying Irish tourism and hospitality businesses to get their views on decarbonisation, climate change initiatives and the upskilling and training needed to transition the Irish tourism industry towards a Net-Zero destination by 2050.

The findings of this research will be delivered at the webinar.
