€5M Investment for Lough Eske Castle
Harcourt Developments is to invest €5m in an expansion of its five-star Lough Eske Castle in Co Donegal.
The proposed two-storey development will include 24 suites and four bedrooms. At present, the hotel has 97 guestrrooms, the Lake Lodge (a two-bedroom residence) and the CARA Organic Beauty Spa.
Last month, the team at Lough Eske Castle celebrated the 15th anniversary of its opening in 2007.
Currently, it employs 207 staff, seven of whom have been employees since it first opened.
The company was founded by Donegal property developer Pat Doherty and is behind the Titanic Quarter in Belfast.
With a history that dates back to the 1400’s, Lough Eske Castle had been run as a guest house for nine years. A fire in 1939 resulted in most of the castle’s wooden interior structure being destroyed. Six decades and a €40 million investment later, the hotel was refurbished to its current stage.
