rtis Show for an outside broadcast live from Carters Chocolate Café at George’s Court Shopping Centre in Waterford City this Saturday 1st August from 8–11am.

The outside broadcast is a culmination of a twelve week summer partnership between Discover Ireland and the Saturday Breakfast with Alison Curtis show. Throughout this partnership Alison has been promoting some of the great festivals and events taking place across the country to encourage the people of Ireland to get out there and explore Ireland and soak up some unique Irish festival atmosphere.

Fáilte Ireland is encouraging everyone to come out and attend the broadcast.

Blarney Plans 250th Anniversary

Boylan, chairman of Blarney and District Chamber of Commerce, said he was disappointed there were already objections to a plan to erect a statue in memory of the founder of Blarney Castle.

The 18th century industrialist James St John Jefferyes is widely credited with creating Blarney’s formal village structure in 1765. Among the chamber’s anniversary plans are: Development of a heritage trail and interactive app; Creation of the Blarney Global Eloquence Awards and storytelling festival to be held around St Patrick’s Day; A long-term vision is to secure the development of a village heritage centre

'Open' Heading for Portrush

Plans are advanced to bring the British Open Golf Championship to Portrush in 2019.

The 'Major' tournament wpuld provide a tourism bonanza for NorthernnIreland

Royal Portrush captain Richard McLaughlin has hailed the impact of Northern Ireland's Major winners in the decision to bring the Open Championship back to the country.

The tournament was last held at the north coast links back in 1951 and McLaughlin believes that the course's addition to the championship rota, with a view to hosting again in 2019, was inspired by the success of Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke.

Eoghan to Head ITIC

The Irish Tourist Industry Confederation has appointed Eoghan O’Mara Walsh as Chief Executive.

Eoghan has a distinguished career in tourism having previously been Managing Director of O’Mara Travel Ltd and of Heritage Island Ltd, and is currently Managing Director of O’Mara Consultancy Ltd. In his earlier career he was Procurement Executive with Diageo in London and Dublin.

Eoghan takes up his new position in September on the retirement of the present Chief Executive, Eamonn McKeon.
