Fáilte Ireland’s won two accolades at  the eir Spider Awards 2015 which took place in the Double Tree by Hilton, Dublin.   Established in 1996, the eir Spider Awards are now i


n their 20th year making them the longest standing and most prestigious internet awards in Ireland. 
The Failte Ireland digital team is pictured after receiving the awards was awarded the top prize in 
- Best in Travel, Sport, Leisure and Tourism
 - Digital Geography and Location Based Services was designed and developed by Fáilte Ireland to inspire and motivate international visitors to consider holidaying in Ireland, provide them with everything they need to enhance their in holiday experience and at the same time stimulating the domestic audience to revive their awareness of what Ireland’s west coast has to offer. The flexible and cutting-edge website design has a number of innovative functionalities aimed at inspiring, entertaining, engaging users while they research and plan their holiday including among others intuitive route planning through the Trip Planner functionality, innovative product geo-mapping and strong UGC application ‘Share Your Experience’ platform.
The ‘Best in Travel, Sport, Leisure and Tourism’ category recognises websites that demonstrate an excellent understanding of travel consumers’ behaviours and present an innovative product design.
While the ‘Digital Geography and Location Based Services’ category recognises websites and mobile apps that make effective use of geography and use of digital mapping and location-based services that enhance the experience of any website or app.
Commenting on the win, Daragh Anglim, Head of Digital, Fáilte Ireland said:
“The eir Spider Awards are considered an important benchmark for distinction and excellence in digital business strategies and we are delighted to have been awarded these accolades for our work on
“Our hard work is paying off - since launching the website earlier this year, has already counted 307,905 unique visits and 1.2million page views from visitors at home (39%) and abroad (61%). Particular interest is apparent in the UK, which makes up one third of all overseas visits.”
The Fáilte Ireland Digital team received four nominations in total at the eir Spider Awards 2015:

- Best in Listings and Classifieds –
Failte Ireland recently produced a video for the Wild Atlantic Way Expo 2015, which saw 60 key international buyers specialising in the areas of youth and adventure come together to meet with 100 Irish tourism businesses in the Salthill Hotel Galway. The event was designed to grow overseas visitor numbers by targeting the international youth and adventure market which has great potential to increase tourist numbers into Ireland.
