 An article all about Dublin appeared in a recent edition of Ekstra Bladet, a popular daily newspaper in Denmark – profiling the city to the pa

Tourism Ireland in the Nordic Region invited journalist Karen Seneca, from Ekstra Bladet, to visit Dublin earlier this year. The resulting article appeared under the headline “8 grunde til at opleve Dublin” (meaning “8 reasons to experience Dublin”) and featured lots of great photos.
 
The eight reasons included the people, music, pubs, attractions, museums, food, beer and murals/urban art. The author said “Warning: this article is 100 per cent subjective, because I lost my heart right down on Dublin's cobbled streets the first time I visited the city. And I've been in love ever since. Dublin has it all and does it all. At the same time it’s sufficiently small and manageable.”
 
Aileen Hickey, Tourism Ireland’s manager Nordic Region, said: “We are delighted with the wonderful coverage in Ekstra Bladet, which is an excellent way of showcasing Dublin to a large audience of potential Danish holidaymakers for the city and for Ireland. Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the media in Scandinavia of how great Dublin is for a city break, as well as the many things to see and do on a holiday right around the island of Ireland.
 
“The Nordic Region is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland and we have seen good growth in Nordic visitors numbers this year, with the most recent CSO figures showing an increase of +15% for June to August. We are determined to ensure that tourism growth continues. We have a really extensive autumn campaign in full swing right now – aimed at boosting late-season travel to Ireland from Scandinavia and elsewhere around the globe.”
