Cahernane House Hotel in Killarney, Co. Kerry (Ireland) has launched a
History and Hospitality package iwhich includes an historical tour of the hotel and a walking tour. The walk will include commentary and information on some of the key historical sights nearby including Muckross Abbey, Muckross House and Killegly Chapel, the final resting place of the Herbert family. The leisurely three-hour walk also takes in some of the scenery which forms part of the famous Killarney National Park.
Guests will also enjoy lunch in the Garden Restaurant on the grounds of the Muckross Estate before they are given a guided tour of the 15th Century Muckross Abbey and Muckross House.
This package, all in all offers guests an opportunity to bring the past to life. Every piece of furniture and every painting at Cahernane tells the story of the people who have gone before us and have walked and danced on the original tiles and parquet floors or enjoyed fine wines or elegant Afternoon Tea in the Drawing Room. Today, Cahernane House is an elegant Irish country house hotel but is sympathetic and respectful of its history.
There are six main rooms on the ground floor of the property: the Atrium, the Pembroke Suite, the Herbert Restaurant, Drawing Room, Library and Reception. Each of these rooms contain historical artefacts and original antiques including items such as the Herbert Family Crest which is depicted above the front door of the hotel. The house features Pillar Caps in the lobby, which feature the first letters of each of Henry’s first four children’s names. His fifth child, Gwendolyn, was born the same year the house was built (August 1877) and the story goes that Gwendolyn’s ghost still roams the house on occasion!
Emer Corridan, General Manager of Cahernane House Hotel said, “We strive to offer our discerning guests an elegant and luxurious experience. We are proud of our tradition and history and want to be faithful to the heritage of this wonderful property, that is why through our owners PREM Group we have sympathetically restored the house to its former glory. Our historical package allows us to share the great Cahernane House story. Essentially, we are the custodians of its history and the champions of its future”.
The History and Hospitality Package is available on Friday 3rd April to Sunday 5th April only. For more information on Cahernane House Hotel see www.cahernane.com or call +353 (0) 64 663 1895.
