Premier Inn is planning to expand its operations in Dublin with up to 1,500 new bedrooms.

The Whitbread-owned British hotel chain, which runs over 750 venues in the UK, is currently negotiating to acquire sites in both Dublin 1 and Dublin 2.

 According to The Times, the company is seeking to secure five or six properties through 25-year lease agreements and sites with and without existing planning permission are being considered. At present, Premier Inn's 155-bedroom hotel at Dublin Airport, which is in the midst of being revamped with an additional 54 rooms, is its only facility in the Republic. The company currently runs seven hotels in the North.

 

 

The Hastings Group has announced that in addition to investing £53 million in its seventh hotel, it has also recently completed a £10 million renovation programme of its other six hotels.

 Managing director Howard Hastings stated: "We are currently making our biggest single investment to date in the Grand Central Hotel of £53 million and, upon completion, it will be Northern Ireland’s largest hotel with 304 bedrooms, meeting spaces, bars and restaurants...In addition we invested over £10m in the last three years in the continuous investment programmes of our six hotels to ensure we offer our guests the very best facilities and experience on every visit."

 

"We have recently completed a £4.8 million renovation of the Culloden Estate & Spa, a new £1.5 million grand ballroom at the Everglades Hotel in Derry, which is now the largest facility of its kind in the north-west, as well as pumping £2 million into the Europa and £1 million into the Stormont Hotel, affording it a new look high-tech conference and event facility."
