Ooh La WAW

The Wild Atlantic Way has made the cover of a popular French travel magazine with about 650,000 readers – or potential holidaymakers for the West of Ireland.

A major 40-page article all about Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way features in the August edition of Grands Reportages magazine. Tourism Ireland in Paris invited journalist Jean-Marc Porte and photographer Céline Ravier to visit this spring. The resulting, extensive article features lots of spectacular images and focuses particularly on Cork, Connemara and the Aran Islands.

Monica MacLaverty, Tourism Ireland’s manager for southern Europe, said: “We are delighted with the extensive coverage in Grands Reportages magazine, which is an excellent way of showcasing the Wild Atlantic Way to a large audience of potential French holidaymakers. Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the media in France of our spectacular scenery and the many things to see and do on a holiday in Ireland.

“France is one of the top four markets for tourism to Ireland and it’s been the best first half ever for French visitors, with the latest CSO figures showing growth of +13% for January to June, an extra 28,700 French visitors compared with the same six-month period in 2014. Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotions in France throughout 2015, to ensure that this growth continues.”
