The group’s programme, designed by Fáilte Ireland, included a walking tour of Dublin with Pat Liddy, a visit to the Irish National Stud & Japanese Gardens in Kildare, as well as a tour of Bunratty Castle & Folk Park. The travel agents also visited the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara and Kilbeggan Distillery in Co Westmeath.
Barbara Wood, Tourism Ireland’s manager in Spain, said: “Spain is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland and we were delighted to see visitor numbers increase by +11% in 2014, an extra 28,000 Spanish visitors when compared to 2013. We are determined to ensure that tourism growth continues. Inviting influential travel agents and tour operators to come and experience at first-hand what’s on offer here is a key element of Tourism Ireland’s promotional programme. Our aim is that when they return home, the travel agents will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland.”
