The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD, has published his Department’s Statement of Strategy 2015 – 2017.
The Statement was prepared following extensive consultation with internal and external stakeholders and interested parties.
Major elements of the Strategy include prioritising the completion of the Luas Cross City Project; publishing national policies for tourism, aviation and maritime safety; increasing the number of air routes operating in and out of Ireland; facilitating the development of sports facilities and continuing to work towards reducing road fatalities and injuries.
Minister Donohoe said: ‘The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has a crucial role to play in the economic and social development of our country. Inherent in our continued recovery is our ability to provide transport links that enable people to get around and for goods to be transported in a timely, efficient and cost effective way. The pursuit of polices that will enable us to develop an environment in which jobs can be created is also key to our future prosperity and ultimately to creating an Ireland that will prosper in the years to come’.
