Navan Pub Takes Top Award

The Central Bar Navan was named '2014 Bar of the Year' at the annual awards in Dublin last night. It also won an award for 'Modern Iris Cooking'. ‘Bar Manager of the Year’ was presented to Ivan King,Bar Manager at The Shelbourne Hotel. Kilkenny’s Kyteler’s Inn was presented with the ‘Tourist Bar of the Year’ and The Palace in County Meath was awarded ‘Music Venue of the Year’. The ‘City Bar of the Year Award’ (sponsored by Coca Cola) was presented to P. Mac’s bar in D2. P. Mac’s was recognised for providing a unique and varied product to both local and international customers. ‘Staff Personality of the Year’was awarded to Richie Broaders, Food and Beverage Manager of the Langton House Hotel/The Marble City Bar, Co. Kilkenny.

Cityjet Expands London Service

CityJet has announced a 25 per cent expansion of its London City to Dublin route and will put on up to nine flights every weekday as of 26 October 2014. CityJet will also start operating the earliest flight out of London City Airport with a 06:45 departure. The independent airline currently serves over 250,000 passengers on the route every year with 94 per cent of all flights departing on time. Now in the 20th year of operating on the London City to Dublin route, the latest expansion helps to further connect the two capital cities and thousands of businesses in the financial, media and technology sectors.

Renovation Seminar at DIT

DIT School of Hospitality Management Cathal Brugha St will host a leading European hotel project management consultant, Herbert Mascha, Managing Partner of Austrian based MRP Hotels. Herbert will discuss a number of hotel renovation case-studies he has worked on, including The Morrison, Dublin and Inter-Continental Frankfurt among others. The entire renovation process will be explored, with the exception of the financing dimension. The free seminar will take place on Wednesday, November 19th from 6-8pm in KOS Theatre, School of Hospitality Management and Tourism, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin 1. The seminar is being organised in association with the International Society of Hospitality Consultants.
