Over 120 of Kerry's residents attended Gathering Community meetings which were held in Kenmare and Dingle this month to generate ideas and plans to bring Gatherings to Kerry in 2013.

The Kenmare and Dingle Community meetings were organised by County Gathering Coordinator John Griffin. A large number of Gatherings for Kerry in 2013 were proposed and a website www.thegatheringireland.com  is now available for those ideas to be shared. The website also contains tools and resources for people to plan their Gatherings.

Speaking at the Dingle meeting, Gathering Coordinator John Griffin, said:

"There has been such a terrific sense of enthusiasm at the Kerry meetings and the ideas generated could definitely bring people to Kerry next year. What we need now is for people to get behind these terrific ideas and put plans in place to make Kerry a hub of activity for 2013."

Gathering ideas generated at the Kenmare and Dingle community meetings included celebrating Fungi the Dolphin's 30th Birthday gathering, Hospitality seasonal employee reunions and an International Lace Making Gathering in Kenmare.

Fáilte Ireland's Jenny De Saulles, commented: "The Gathering Ireland 2013 has the potential to bring a genuine boost to the region. If we all make an effort to put the ideas into place and commit to the plans there will be a great boost to Kerry in 2013."
