 Tourism Minister Jonathan Bell launched Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and Drink 2016 in the United States at an event in New York organised by Tourism Ireland, which was attended by leading American food writers, tour operators and airlines. Earlier, Tourism Ireland launched Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and Drink in Scotland.

Ireland is 'Best Destination'

Ireland has been named a ‘best travel destination’ in the world, at an awards ceremony in China earlier this week.
 
The annual awards are organised by Travel & Leisure magazine, an important bilingual travel publication with a circulation of about 550,000. Ireland was one of nine destinations listed in the “best travel destination” category during 2015 – in good company with Canada, Mauritius, Maldives, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Norway and Denmark, to take the number one spot!
 
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “We are delighted that Ireland has been named a ‘best travel destination’ in China. Travellers nowadays have so much choice, which makes it more important than ever for us to ensure that the island of Ireland really stands out from other destiantions – so this award is really good news as we prepare to kick off our busy promotional drive for 2016 in China.

Dalata adds Four Hotels

 Dalata continues its spending spree with agreements to acquire the operating leases of four hotels including the Gibson in Dublin and two Clarions.
 
Ireland's biggest hotelier is spending €40m on acquiring the leasdes on the Clarion Hotels in Cork and Limerick, the Gibson at The Point Village in Dublin and the Croydon Park Hotel in South Lonndon.
The leases have an average life of 18 years.
Dalata is also to manage the Clarion Liffey Valley Hotel in Dublin on a short term contract.
