Dublin on 'Must See' list

Fáilte Ireland has welcomed the inclusion of Dublin on the ‘2018 Best of the World’ list announced by National Geographic Traveller magazine. Dublin was selected as one of the 21 ‘must-see’ destinations to visit in the year ahead.  


 Keelin Fagan, Head of Dublin at Fáilte Ireland in welcoming Dublin’s inclusion on the 2018 Best of the World list said that it is a positive recognition of Dublin’s position as a vibrant, friendly and culturally rich international city break destination for visitors from overseas.

NZ scholarship for Adare sommelier

Jurica Gojevic of  Adare Manor, is one of eight successful sommeliers from the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe chosen to participate in the 2018 New Zealand Winegrowers International Sommelier Scholarship.
 First launched in 2015 with a scholarship for Australian sommeliers, the programme is now a global initiative with the European sommeliers joining scholars from Australia, Asia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA.
 Each scholarship recipient attends a Sommit™ event, which is limited to just 20 sommeliers with content targeted exclusively to their interests. Next year’s Sommits™ will take place in Nelson and Central Otago, two of New Zealand’s top winemaking regions.

Dalata extends Ballsbridge lease

 Dalata Hotel Group is to extend its existing lease agreement on the Ballsbridge Hotel until at least October next year.
There is then the option to extend the lease further up to March 2019.
The Ballsbridge Hotel (formerly Jurys) , is a four-star, 392-room hotel located on Pembroke Road and adjacent to Lansdowne Road, in Dublin 4.
Dalata has operated the hotel under lease since January 2012.

New Galway Supermacs

Ireland’s newest Supermac’s has opened  in Headford, Co Galway.
The new outlet is owned by Ger and Ann Monaghan, who already have a service station in the town.
Twenty new jobs are being created. 
The garage business has operated since 1967 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The Irish Hotels Federation has begun rolling out a Branch Employee of the Year awards scheme to celebrate and recognise exceptional employees who make an outstan


ding contribution to their workplace. Over 60,000 people are employed by hotels and guesthouses across the country in all areas of operations including food and beverage; catering; accommodation services; reception; leisure centre and spa facility management; sales and marketing; human resources; IT; management and finance.
The Dublin Branch Employee of the Year winner was Ciara McNamara, duty manager, Jury’s Inn, Parnell Street. 
 Speaking at the presentation of the Dublin Branch Employee of the Year Award, IHF President Joe Dolan said that hotel and guesthouse employees play a vital role in the continued success of the tourism sector by ensuring guests have a truly memorable stay, which they will share with friends and family.
