French MICE in East

Decision-makers working in the important business tourism sector in France enjoyed an action-packed visit to Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare frgrp2162, as guests of Tourism Ireland in partnership with Fáilte Ireland.

 The group included senior representatives of companies involved in the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) industry, who organise international conferences, meetings and events around the world, as well as a journalist from a top French business travel magazine. They were here to discover the facilities and accommodation on offer, as well as the great experiences business delegates can enjoy here on the sidelines of their conference or meeting.

Couple Must Answer Questions

Two former owners of Morans of the Weir in Kilcolgan, Co. Galway are to answer questions in the Commercial Court following a claim that they spent €900,000 on living expenses from proceeds of property sales but haven’t used any of the proceeds to reduce a bank debt of almost €20 million.
 William and Sheila Moran,  must answer a number of questions about their expenditure within the next two weeks as part of AIB’s bid to recover the €20 million, Mr Justice John Hedigan directed.
AIB obtained judgment against them in 2012 arising out of default on loans for property investment.

Dalata Buys key hotel site

Dalata has acquired the company which owns the former Charlemont Clinic in Dublin 2 for €11.9 million and says it intends to build a new 4-star hotel on the site.
The company said it bought DS Charlemont Limited from property developer U+I in a cash deal. U+I, formerly Development Securities, acquired the Charlemont Clinic site for €7.1 million in December 2014. It went on the market with a guide price of €5 million in February 2014.
The site is well located on the south side of Dublin city, approximately 1km north of St Stephen’s Green, between the Barge pub, Charlemont Street and South Richmond Street. The Charlemont Luas stop is situated less than 100m away and the main vehicular and pedestrian access is off Charlemont Mall a road running parallel to the Grand Canal.

a buzzy opening night. Following an €85,000 investment, directors Richard Linden and Ronan Rogerson (pictured) 
opened their doors. 
  Established in 2012, the Dublin Bar Academy runs professional training courses for bartenders as well as workshops for corporate and private clients in cocktail making, wine and whiskey tasting and craft beer. It now operates the franchise for the European Bartender School (EBS) programme in Ireland.

join Tourism Ireland and Inland Fisheries Ireland for this year’s Salon Européen Des Pêches (European angling fair).

The three-day fair attracts around 18,000 visitors every year, including French travel agents and tour operators who specialise in angling holidays, as well as thousands of French fishing enthusiasts looking for ideas and suggestions for their next fishing break or holiday destination.
