Movies and more at Glenlo

Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Golf Course has opened its newly revamped Abbey Cinema Theatre, with a library of 50 classic movies from

glencinema

'Casablanca' to 'Gone With the Wind'. There are two screenings daily, a matinee at 3pm and an evening screening at 10pm. The 1930’s inspired décor gives a Hollywood Glamour look and feel to the boutique 15 seater theatre, with oversized velvet chairs, velour textured walls and gold guilt edge cornicing. The Abbey Cinema Theatre is primarily for hotel guests, but can also be hired for private screenings and for corporate video launches.

The Games Room located in the basement of the old house in an area that was once used as part of the original Kitchen is now an ideal base to relax and read a book in a club arm chair, enjoy a game of chess or backgammon or perhaps the recent arrival of the billiards table is a relaxing way to end a busy day at Glenlo.

For those looking for some outdoor activity, then the newly completed cycle track around the estate will certainly knock the cobwebs off.   Complimentary Estate Bicycles are available plus a guided cycle map, so you can take a spin around the magnificent estate.

‘Our strategy for the last few months at Glenlo was to bring a new layer of luxury to our guests experiences at the hotel. Having listened intently to our guests over the past few years we felt there was a great opportunity to add more value to and enhance their stay by creating and developing the concept of the Billiards Room and Abbey Theatre Movie Room. Ireland and especially the West as we all know can have the odd rainy day so it was important for us to offer varied options for our guests for relaxation and comfort in luxurious surroundings within the hotel’ said Rory O’Sullivan, General Manager.
