Ashford on Oz tv

Images of Ashford Castle and Mayo were beamed into the homes of some 800,000 Australians , in an episode of a popular Australian TV

show called 'The Living Room'. The show aired on Network Ten. Filming took place here last autumn and was supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

Viewers saw Dr Chris Brown – an Australian veterinarian, TV personality and author, famously known as the ‘Bondi Vet’ – explore the scenery, culture and history of Co Mayo, and Ashford Castle in particular. Filming included clay pigeon shooting and a falconry demonstration at Ashford Castle.
Another two episodes featuring the island of Ireland will air later this year; they’ll focus on Lisdoonvarna matchmaker Willie Daly (in September) and on Northern Ireland and its Game of Thrones connections (in October).

Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Australia and New Zealand, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted that Dr Chris Brown and The Living Room crew chose to film in Ireland. With an audience of about 800,000 viewers per episode, it’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the destination to a huge Australian audience. Chris Brown has a loyal following in Australia and his focus on Ireland’s scenery, culture and history will certainly appeal to our important ‘culturally curious’ audience, inspiring them to come and explore the landscapes and locations featured in The Living Room for themselves.”
