Wicklow is ready to welcome over 300 overseas participants, including Olympic medallists fresh from Rio, for the World Archery Field Championships, which is supported by

Fáilte Ireland. The tourism authority welcomed an estimated €¼ million revenue boost as participants from across the globe check in for the week-long event.
Speaking today about the importance of hosting such tournaments, Jennifer Churchward Events Manager with Fáilte Ireland said –
“We are delighted to be supporting this prestigious world archery event. The championship is one of many Fáilte Ireland supported events in 2016 and provides a great opportunity to showcase the natural beauty and wonderful facilities that exist in Ireland’s Ancient East.
“Kilruddery House and Gardens provide a magical backdrop for what promises to be a great sport tourism opportunity. We wish all those travelling to Ireland for the championships a warm welcome and successful competition.”
Being held for the first time in Ireland, the archers will take part in five days of competition over three field courses, culminating in the finals weekend hosted in the gardens adjacent to the 18th century manor house.
The Championships, which are being supported by Fáilte Ireland, Sport Ireland and Archery Trade Association (ATA), will bring a tourism and economic boost to County Wicklow as competitors and their teams and supporters fly in from around the world. In addition to the athletes, a further 100 officials will spend the week in Ireland as part of the competition.
