The best actress award was won by Brie Larson, for her role as a kidnapped mother in the Lenny Abrahmason movie 'Room'. while 'Stutter' won  the Best Short Animated Film  award

Nevertheless is was a memorable night for the Irish film industry and further boosted Ireland's image as a holiday deestination.
Ireland was also  in the spotlight at a pre-Oscars event in West Hollywood, which was organised by the Irish Film Board and IDA Ireland and sponsored by Tourism Ireland.

With nine Oscar nominations for Irish films this year, the Hollywood networking event was a superb opportunity to showcase our vibrant film industry and what the island of Ireland has to offer the US movie industry. The event – attended by well-known producers, distributors and Irish actors – provided a platform to highlight all the great films that have been made in Ireland and to build awareness of Ireland as a ‘must visit’ vacation destination.

Screen tourism is important in helping to raise awareness of a destination; TV and film are recognised as strong influencers on travellers everywhere, with up to 35% of people being impacted in their choice of destination by what they see on screen.
