When ambulances and Gardai arrived at the scene the shooters, some of whom wore police-style uniforms, and a man dressed as a woman, had fled.he bar where he was having a coffee with general manager John Glynn. He rushed to the Residents Lounge to call Gardai, but experienced a delay in having his call answered.
Staff and guests fled or took cover once the shooting started but it appeared that the shooters had clearly identified their targets in advance. They are believed to be connected to a drugs dealing gang based in Spain and headed by Irish criminals.
Some newspapers are reporting today that the principal intended target of the shooters managed to escape.
